On October 28, 2021, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will start imposing regulations that no persons may come within 50 yards of Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins. Dolphin Discoveries is a leader in ethical dolphin swims and dolphin swim education; we have always put the interest and welfare of the dolphins at the forefront of everything we do. We remain committed to our high standards for ethical dolphin treatment and high-quality dolphin education.
Unfortunately, Dolphin Discoveries will no longer allow any of our guests to swim with Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins after October 27th. Our new tour will take you along the Kona Coast to focus on observing Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins outside of 50 yards. Our naturalist guides will teach you all about their natural behaviors. After viewing dolphins, we will take you on a journey south to snorkel the beautiful pristine reef at Kealakekua Bay, home of the Captain Cook Monument. Along the way we will talk about Hawaiian History and get up close to sea caves and lava tubes.
Through October 27, 2021, our Dolphin Discovery Adventure will be as described below.
Kona’s Original Dolphin Swim Adventure
Join us to see the Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin as they should be, Wild and Free! We are Kona’s first and original “Dolphin Swim” Adventure; an adventure the whole family will enjoy and talk about for years to come. Including getting some great photo opportunities both above and below the surface.
This adventure is focused on locating and spending quality time with the Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin. After receiving instructions on how to interact with the Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin you may have an opportunity to view them from the boat and in the water before they enter their rest cycle. Our company prides itself with its ability to ethically and humanely interact with Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin to ensure that future generations are able to enjoy these wonderful mammals. Once the Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins begin their rest cycle and if time permits, our highly trained staff may take you to a reef snorkel (possibly Kealakekua Bay), view other marine life that Kona is blessed with having year-round (humpback whales seasonal), and view the sea caves that scatter along the Kona coast.
Drawing on years of experience, our captains and crew will take you up close and personal with the dolphin who call Kona home. As we search for these beautiful creatures in the warm tropical waters off the coast, our crew will share their knowledge about these fascinating creatures, how they live and their role in the ocean’s ecosystem.
Nearly every day, year-round we are able to encounter these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. You may glimpse their torpedo-shaped bodies darting smoothly through the waves, swimming and rolling in formation, like synchronized swimmers. Perhaps getting a chance to watch them catch a free ride from the wake of our boat or peering inquisitively at you from the depths of their dark, soulful eyes. Or you may observe a pod off in the distance, leaping high into the air as they travel together.
